Four Professors from MUST Joining the Chang_e 3 Core Team

news defaultChang’e 3 is scheduled to launch in December this year. All the preparatory work is at the final stages. For “Fast results, better results, more results " , the Lunar and Deep-space Exploration under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently organized a core team of researchers for real time processing and analysis of scientific data upon the launching of Chang’e 3. The team will carry out the work of researching and analyzing the landed camera, terrain camera, panoramic camera, Lunar laser radar, particle fire X Gamma ray spectrometer, infrared imaging spectrometer, extreme ultraviolet cameras and month based optical telescopes, 8 Payload. Core team members are mainly from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Astronomical Observatory, Institute of geology and Geophysics, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Macau University of science and technology, including researchers, scientists, and ground application system personnel from other organizations.

As China's lunar exploration mission," Winding, and left back , pick up where the second step in a three-step”, Chang’e 3 will be China's first lunar rover, and the first spacecraft to make a soft landing on the moon. The lander is equipped with many new products and technologies, of which three of the instruments will perform the world’s first scientific exploration, including near-ultraviolet optical telescope, extreme ultraviolet cameras and radar measuring month, innovative and technically sophisticated.

The Core team will not only focusing on the Chang’e operation, they will also play a major role in the future deep space scientific research, for example the Chang’e 5 mission and the Mars exploration mission.

Must School of Space Science Institute is the first university in Hong Kong and Macao area to get involved with the " Chinese Lunar Exploration Program ". Following the launching of Chang’e 1 and Chang’e 2 since 2005, MUST team have achieved encouraging results in the scientific analysis of data fields, not only won the natural science award in Macau, also received praise led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the core team to provide excellent data analysis for Mainland China “Two Shores, Four Regions” Lunar Exploration Mission.

This time, for Professor Tian Xiaolin, Associate Professor Cai Zhanchuan, Assistant Professor Zhu Menghua, and Assistant Professor Zhang Xiaoping, the invitation of joining the Chang’e 3 National Core Research Team will not only further enhance the scientific level of MUST University space research, it will also highlight it’s contribution toward Macau SAR’s technology development.
