On October 18-19, 2014, Macau University of Science and Technology held its 4th Campus Sports Tournament at the Sports Stadium of the University. The two-day event comprised 16 individual and relay-race trace and filed games and 3 team competitions, and attracted an audience of more than six hundred students.
The opening ceremony started with the players marching into the stadium in different groupings by faculty. Afterwards, President Liu Liang delivered a speech, encouraging the players to actively participant in sports and physical education so as to improve their physical fitness, develop their potentials and gain friendship. He also urged the players to incorporate sports and physical exercise into their daily life and study and eventually a way of life.
On the first day of the tournament, all together 14 individual competitions of track and field were held, including men’s 1500 meters and 800 meters, men’s and women’s 400 meters, 200 meters, 100 meters, long jump, high jump, shot put, and others. On the second day, team competitions such as relay races and tug-of-war, as well as many fun games including Jiu Gong Ge square game, fun basketball shooting, and five-person-six-feet race, were also held. The competitions were intense but full of fun and in which the players demonstrated sportsmanship and team spirit.
The two day tournament came to a successful finish with champion and runner-up emerged. A closing ceremony was held to present award, as well as a group photo of all players, referees and teachers.
