Faculty of Humanities and Arts of MUST Won Fourteen Awards at the “2014 Competition and Summit of Tourist Souvenir Design of Macao”, Including the Outstanding Organization Award

Held by the Macao Chinese and Western Culture Creative Industries Promotion Association, the fourth Competition and Summit of Tourist Souvenir Design of Macao recently announced the winner list of the awards. Faculty of Humanities and Arts of MUST has won altogether 14 awards, among which the Faculty won the Outstanding Organization award, Lecturer Yan Shao Shi won the Outstanding Instructors award, Guest Associate Professor Wang Lan and Assistant Professor Zhang Xi Zhi won the Excellent Instructors award. Under the guidance of the above-mentioned three teachers, Liu Zu Nan won the Excellent Works award, Zheng Wen Jie, Li Ting, and Lu Yun Peng won the Innovative Works award, Liu Zu Nan and Li Ting also won the New Talents Awards, and Gong Guan Yu, Gu Ying Ying, and Li Wei Qi won the Finalist Awards.

This has been the fourth year in a row for the Competition and Summit of Tourist Souvenir Design of Macao to be held, which has won wide recognitions from the public and has produced profound impact on the community; it is becoming a renowned brand in Macau’s culture creative industry. The purposes of the event are to bring designers and the interested parties to a better understanding of Chinese culture and western culture, to add a touch of Macau to their designs, and to produce designs of tourist souvenirs that combine local characteristics and creativeness so as to carry Macau’s image of being the “World Tourism and Leisure Center” to every corner of the world. This year’s competition has attracted the participation of many universities outside Macau, including Konkuk University, South Korea, Hong Kong Baptist University, Ming Chuan University, Tai Wan, Dong Hwa University, Tai Wan, China Academy of Art, Shanghai University and so on. Local higher institutions that have taken part in the competition include University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, and City University of Macau.

The winners of the awards have been invited to attend the Awards Presentation ceremony, the exhibition of Outstanding Works, and the Launching ceremony of the Outstanding Works album and the Summit, which are all scheduled to take place in November.
