On November 21, 2018 14:00-16:00, the ”Latin American Cooking Demonstration –Mexican Cuisine ” was held at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Culinary Lab of Macau University of Science and Technology. This event was jointly organized by MGTO, MAPEAL and FHTM of MUST, sponsored by the Macao Foundation. This event was aimed to provide an opportunity for the Bachelor of Food and Beverage Management students to learn the culture, professional cooking, and promote leisure cooking experience of Latin American cuisine.
The cooking demonstration was presented by Chef Rigel Sotelo Schmelkes. Mr. Damian Martinez Taguena, Consul General of Mexico in Hong Kong was also invited to attend the event. The demonstration session was attended by the FHTM students and staff. Besides introducing some typical ingredients used in Mexican cuisine, Chef Sotelo demonstrated a Mexican dish “CHICKEN IN MOLE THICK SAUCE”. The students were intrigued by the technique of Chef Schmelkes and the special Mexican ingredients. They were excited as it was their first experience encountering with Mexican cuisine. By participating in this event, students broadened their knowledge and view especially on Latin America Culture.
