“I am the Chef”, the 4th culinary competition organized by Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology was held on March 16, 2019. The competition provided a platform for food and beverage management students to present their idea and culinary talents. The champion team will represent M.U.S.T. to participate at the HKICC culinary competition which will be held in May in Hong Kong this year. This activity was sponsored by Macao Foundation.
A total of 8 teams composed of undergraduate Year 2 and Year 3 students from the Food and Beverage Management program participated in this competition. Each team was required to complete three courses which included appetizer, main course and dessert in two and a half hours. Judge panel included Chef Garry Colpitt, Chef Mary Ote and Chef Benjamin Chen Kuan Ting. They evaluate the teams based on their knife skills, hygiene, ingredients using ability, team work, creativity etc. Finally, “Mushroom Lake”, the team of Year 3 students Ho Si Lok and Lei Ian Tong, won the championship. Their production was comprised of the appetizer “Prawn Salad with Scallop Mousse”, main course “Sirloin with bone Marrow and Grilled Vegetable” and dessert “Caramel Glass Case with Caramel Nut Mousse”.
