FHTM Phd students visit Heyuan city for experiential learning

The Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Ben. K Goh and Program Director (Graduate) Dr. Zhang Yang led 9 doctoral students to Heyuan for experiential learning from November 24 to 27, 2019.

Located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, Heyuan City has been named as one of Chinese Top Ten Green Economy Cities, Top Ten Characteristic Leisure Cities and Excellent Tourism Cities. Heyuan is known as ‘the Hakka Ancient Town as well as the source of Wanlu Lake. During the visit the study group visited Linzhai Hakka Ancient Village, Nongfu Spring, Ketianxia Crystal Hot Spring International Resort & Spa Hotel and Wanlu Lake. Meanwhile, they also visited Heyuan Polytechnic and understand the current development of professional education in tourism management.

This activity is also the first research activity of Expedition Research and Learning Community (ERLC) as an informal research group which was set up up by the FHTM doctoral students. This particular group learning activity achieved the expected outcome of promoting autonomous learning, theoretical exploration with cooperative learning and practical study to improve their learning and research capability.
