Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of MUST held the MOU Signing Ceremony with the Department of Tourism Management of Soochow University through the ZOOM meeting on July 2 2020. The meeting was attended by Prof. Huang Tai, Head of Department of Tourism Management of Soochow University, Deputy Head Dr. Gao Lihua, Prof. Wei Xiangdong, FHTM Dean Prof. Ben K Goh, Vice Dean Ms. Amy Chu and other representatives of the two parties. Program Director, Associate Prof. Zhang Yang hosted the ceremony. Prof. Ben K Goh and Prof. Huang Tai signed MOU on behalf of both parties.
Two parties signed MOU through ZOOM meeting
On the signing ceremony, Prof. Huang Tai introduced the curriculum and school strength of the Department of Tourism Management of Soochow University. In addition, Prof. Wei Xiangdong also complemented the development of the department and the purposes of cooperation with institutions with international reputation and hoped that the two faculties could find out new cooperation modalities to promote the development of academic and scientific research of both sides. FHTM Dean Prof. Ben Goh delivered a speech welcoming the exchanges and cooperation between the two organizations, pointing out that it has been FHTM’s educational direction to nurture more professional talents with broad horizon through cooperation with well-known academic institutions in mainland China in both teaching and research and therefore he would actively promote this cooperation. Vice Dean Ms. Amy Chu introduced the development of FHTM along with the history and achievement of MUST. Both parties exchanged ideas on and saw great cooperative potential in launching cooperation of superior subjects, teacher and student exchange programs, sharing of teaching materials and joint initiatives in research and teaching.
Soochow University is located in Suzhou, a famous historical and cultural city. Soochow University, one of the renowned “211” universities in mainland China, is the only institution in Jiangsu Province with complete and well-structured talent-cultivation system ranging from undergraduate to post-doctoral programs in tourism management. This MOU signing will help establish a long-term mutual collaborative relationship and therefore further the development of teaching and academic research of both institutions.
