2014 CUMCM Results of MUST

The 2014 Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held in late September. Recently, the final results has been announced in its official website. The students in our university won three national Second Prize.
CUMCM (Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling) is an annual contest for undergraduates all over the world, organized by CSIAM (China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). In the year of 2014, 25347 teams (more than 70000 students) from region of the country's 33 provinces/cities/(including Hong Kong and Macao SAR) and the USA, Singapore and other 1338 institutions participated in the contest. 6% teams won the national First and Second Prize. The Macao SAR area received a total of four national Second Prize.

The role of the contest is to improve students' understanding of mathematics, especially mathematical modeling and mathematical software, and to enhance students' motivation for studying mathematics and to cultivate students' creativity and overall ability.

MUST has achieved very good results from the contest in all pervious, and came out in front in the regions of Hong Kong and Macao among academies. This is related to the university that has paid attention to the student of competence-oriented education, the student affairs office support, and efforts to Department of general education mathematics group and the Faculty of information technology teachers. Since the Macau Science and Technology Development Fund supported the "Macau science and Technology University Mathematics Modeling Contest" project. It has more than three hundred students to participate in the practice of science and technology activities, including the students who won the national award over the years.

At present, the fourth session of the " Mathematical Contest in modeling of Macau University of Science and Technology " has being carried out. Hopefully, more students can participate to apply their knowledge, enhance their practical ability, and to achieve better results.
