On July 24, 2021, the Fourth Seminar of "Research on medium and long-term path of energy transformation in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" project of Guangdong Research Institute of China Engineering Science and technology development strategy was held. Academician Xie Kechang and academician Chen Yong of Chinese Academy of engineering, researcher Zhao daiqing and researcher Guo Fanghua of Guangzhou Energy Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, director Yu Wenyi of Guangdong Energy Research Association and more than 20 experts and professors from 9 units attended the seminar. Song Qingbin, associate professor of Macao Institute of environment of Macao University of Science and Technology, and Wang haoxuan and Chen Ziting, two postgraduates, attended the meeting.
The project launched in 2020. Based on the current energy situation of "9 + 2" Greater Bay Area Urban Agglomeration and the future economic synergy and green development of Greater Bay Area, the project will study the key directions of energy transformation in different regions of Greater Bay Area, explore better regional energy transformation paths, and gradually as well as effectively promote the transformation of energy structure of Greater Bay Area to low-carbon, green and efficient. As a participant of the project, the Macao Institute of Environment of Macao University of Science and Technology is responsible for topic 4 "role orientation and key tasks of Macao in the energy integration and development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ".
The meeting was presided over by academician Chen Yong. Researcher Zhao daiqing of Guangzhou Institute of Energy of Chinese Academy of Sciences reported the overall research progress of the project, and the principals of each sub project made special progress reports respectively. Associate Professor Song Qingbin introduced the current situation of urban energy consumption in Macao, the energy transformation path of typical industries, and the case of carbon neutralization in Macao, hoping to clarify the role orientation and entry point of Macao in the energy transformation project of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through the project research, so as to provide an important reference for the scheme to achieve the goal of carbon neutralization in Macao. At the meeting, academicians and experts attending the meeting held active and enthusiastic discussions on the research objectives, contents and achievements of the project, and provided constructive suggestions for the follow-up work of the project.
In the future, Macao Environmental Research Institute will more actively participate in the research on energy transformation, carbon peak and carbon neutralization in the Greater Bay area, so as to contribute to the construction and development of Macao and the bay area.
