The Inaugural Conference of the Specialty Committee on Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies cum the First Annual Meeting was held from Nov. 21st to 23rd, 2014 in Guangzhou. More than 300 scholars who specialize in immunology of traditional Chinese medicine and entrepreneurs in pharmaceuticals industry attended the meeting. They were from different countries and regions, such as Mainland China, Germany, Canada, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China) and Macau (China). Prof. Liu Liang, President of MUST and Director of State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines, was elected as the Chairman of the first council. The secretariat of the council locates in MUST with Prof. Jiang Zhihong and Associate Prof. Zhou Hua as the deputy secretary-general. Prof. She Jing, Chairman of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Mr. Yu Wenming, Deputy Director of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) and Mr. Sou Chio Fai, Coordinator of Macao Tertiary Education Services Office were also present at the meeting with speeches. Prof. Liu Liang said that the establishment of the specialty committee on immunology of traditional Chinese medicine would attract experts of basic and clinical research from all around the world to the research of immunology of traditional Chinese medicine, thereby accelerating its development. Immunology of traditional Chinese medicine is not only a platform on which the academic research of Chinese medicine is carried out, but also a practical new interdiscipline. Combination of basic and clinical research, combination of multi disciplines and increased cooperation and communication are the goal of the committee.
World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies hosted the conference, co-organizing with State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (MUST), Guangdong Provincial Academy of Chinese Medical Science and Cross-Strait Scientific Collaboration Center for Chinese Medicine.
