Teachers and Students from Faculty of Chinese Medicine, MUST Visited Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for Senior Citizens

In order to find out the best diet and tea for senior citizens, nineteen teachers and students from Faculty of Chinese Medicine, MUST paid a visit to Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for Senior Citizens at 10a.m. on December 6th, 2014. They were warmly welcomed by the chief director of the center Ms. Chan Sao Fan. Chairman of Obra das Mães Ms. Ho Mei Wa, President of Rotary Club of Guia Ms. Luk Chui Chun, and its former president Mr. Lau Keng Wan attended the activity as guests.

Guided by a staff member, Ms. Yim, the teachers, the students and the guests visited the kitchen and the seasoning room, observing how the cooks prepared lunch. Mr. Chan Wai Leung from Department of General Education, MUST demonstrated how to do exercise to strengthen the cervical spine and lumbar spine while the students and the senior citizens present followed. The exercise is simple and practical, which is especially suitable for the seniors who are weak and might have difficulty in moving around. It not only aroused their interest, but also attracted the paramedics as well as other staff members of the center. In the end, the students visited the canteen and the seniors’ bedrooms, observing the preparation of food and beverage, the dining environment and the living condition.

Being passionate and responsible, the students listened carefully, observed closely and asked questions actively during the two-hour visit. They are determined to work out the best diet and beverage for the senior citizens in Macau in the near future.
