Deputy Director Wang Guo Qiang of the National Health and Family Planning Commission Visited MUST and the University Hospital

On the afternoon of August 19, 2015, Deputy Director Wang Guo Qiang of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China paid a visit to MUST; Chair Prof. Liu Liang, President of MUST, Dr. Tong Ka Lok, Vice President of MUST, Dean Wang Yu Lai of the MUST University Hospital, Dr. Mo Hui, Vice Dean of the Hospital, Associate Prof. Zhou Hua, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine and others warmly received the delegation. Deputy Director Wang Guo Qiang acknowledged the full-range development of MUST with respect to its teaching, scientific research, medical treatment and others; he expects that MUST will continue to uphold its policy of attaching dual importance to both teaching and research, foster a greater number of excellent talents, and make even greater contributions to Macau’s moderately diversified development of economy, and the development of the tourism industry and the health industry.

President Liu Liang gave the warmest welcome to the delegation for their visit; he also extended most sincere gratitude to Deputy Director Wang Guo Qiang and the Central Government for their tremendous support to MUST’s development of higher education and its teaching of, treatment with, and research on Traditional Chinese Medicine. President Liu Liang also gave to Deputy Director Wang an introduction of the University’s most recent development and cooperation with mainland universities and enterprises; he noted that the University would continue to strengthen its cooperation and exchanges with other universities and enterprises, seek after development of excellent-quality education and extraordinary research, and make bigger efforts in advancing internationalization and industrialization.

Vice President Tong Ka Lok and Dean Wang Yu Lai made an introduction of the development of the University Hospital; they marked that over the past years the University Hospital had made significant progresses in highlighting the Traditional Chinese Medicine characteristics, establishing excellent-quality medical treatment teams of both Chinese medicine and western medicine, reinforcing the clinical studies and capacity of fostering talents of the Hospital, and providing excellent-quality medical services for Macau citizens. Deputy Director Wang gave praises to the fast development and progresses of the MUST University Hospital; he hopes that the Hospital will be able to provide experience for building a model of health services of both Chinese medicine and western medicine that agrees well with Macau’s characteristics.

After the meeting, with the escort of President Liu Liang and Dean Wang Yu Lai, Deputy Director Wang Guo Qiang took the delegation to a visit of the University Hospital, where he gave high regards to the Hospital’s facilities and equipment. Other guests that participated in the visit include Wang Xiao Pin, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xu Qing Feng, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Guangdong Province and Head of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Bureau of Guangdong Province, Liu Qian, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Wei Chun Yu, Vice Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
