2016 Annual Conference for Chinese Language, Literature and Teaching Pedagogy was held at MUST

2016 Chinese Language and Literature Research cum An International Conference was held at MUST from January 20th to 21st on Chinese language, literature and pedagogy in teaching Chinese as a foreign or second language. The conference was organized by Korea Association of Chinese Literature and Culture, Macau University of Science and Technology, Confucius Institute of Woosong University, Confucius Institute of Yongsei University, and China Research Institute of Yongsei University. It was hosted by University International College, MUST and sponsored by Macau Foundation.

Guests invited for the opening ceremony included Mr. Sou Chio Fai, Director of Macau Tertiary Education Services Office of the Government of the Macao S.A.R., Mr. Guo Jin Bin, Vice Director of Department of Culture and Education, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Mr. Li Xiao Quan, Vice Director of Department of Public Diplomacy and Information, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao S.A.R., Prof. Chen Xi, Vice President of MUST, Prof. Gan Rui Yuan, Dean of Confucius Institute and Vice President of Woosong University, Prof. Piao Jing Ji, President of Korea Association of Chinese Literature and Culture, and Prof. Kim Hyun Chul, Executive Director of Korea Association of Chinese Literature and Culture, Dean of Confucius Institute and China Research Institute of Yongsei University.

In her welcoming speech, Prof. Chen Xi expressed her gratitude to the guests and scholars for their attendance. Looking back at the development of international Chinese language pedagogy in MUST, she hoped that Chinese language education and Chinese culture would further expand in the multicultural society in Macau.

Prof. Piao Jing Ji, Director of Division of Chinese Language & Literature, Sookmyung Women’s University, and President of Korea Association of Chinese Literature and Culture, stated that as a renowned event in the academic circles in China and Korea, the conference would promote the academic, cultural, and educational cooperation between Korea and Macau.

More than 60 scholars from Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau attended the conference, discussing issues concerning Chinese language and literature research, academic development of international Chinese language pedagogy, communicative language teaching methods and cultural communication. The conference provided a good platform for enriching academic communication and cooperation between Macau and Korea, and enhanced the development of international Chinese language education in Macau.
