M.U.S.T. holds International Conference on Modernization of Chinese Education

The 11th International Conference on Modernization of Chinese Education was held in Room 702 of Block O at Macau University of Science and Technology in the morning of July 18, 2018. Officiating guests that attended the opening ceremony included Acting Deputy Director Chan Ka Hou of the Tertiary Education Services Office of the Macao S.A.R., Deputy Director Li Yongxian of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Vice Chairman Zhong Yi of the Administrative Committee of Macao Foundation, Prof. Li Xiaoqi from Peking University, President of the Association for Modernization of Chinese Language Education, and Vice President Lin Zhijun of M.U.S.T.. More than 80 experts and scholars from local institutions, mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, USA and Australia attended the opening ceremony.

The International Conference on Modernization of Chinese Education has organized 10 sessions all over the world, and has produced extensive academic impact. This is the first time the Conference is held in Macau; it is jointly organized by the Association for Modernization of Chinese Language Education and M.U.S.T., and supported by the Tertiary Education Services Office of the Macao S.A.R. This year’s conference highlights the theme of “Digitalized Chinese Education”, which is further comprised of six sub-themes, including theories and practices on modernization of Chinese education, construction of educational resources, language teaching innovations motivated by new media technologies and new notions, diversified teacher training and language tests research. Such topics project great significances in the current context of integrated media and educational technology development. The Conference is composed of keynote speeches, sub-theme discussions and digitalized education workshops. The Conference enabled the exchange and cooperation between the Macau academic community and other language education communities home and abroad, and greatly promoted the development of Chinese education locally, nationally and internationally.
