“The World’s Cities of Gastronomy (China) Gathering at Hou Kong—Celebrity Chef Exchange Event” Held at M.U.S.T.

To further promote Macao as a renowned city of gastronomy, Shun De Federation & Commercial Union Association of Macao organized “the World’s Cities of Gastronomy (China) Gathering at Hou Kong (Macao) Series Event” in Macao, bringing to event to Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) on October 13th. At the event, celebrity chefs from Macao, Chengdu and Shunde exchanged technical and cultural ideas with teachers and students of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM), sharing the developments of regional cuisines and exploring together the inheritance and innovation of gastronomy and culture.

During the event, the celebrity chefs from all three regions demonstrated their culinary techniques and shared their experiences, opening students’ eyes and enriching their culinary knowledge. This event has enhanced Macao’s position as the City of Gastronomy and strengthened its ties with Chengdu and Shunde in the field of culinary arts, which not only improves local students’ culinary techniques, but also generates a positive impact on promoting Macao as the tourism educational base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area.

Inspired by and benefited from “the World’s Cities of Gastronomy (China) Gathering at Hou Kong—Celebrity Chef Exchange Event”, FHTM is determined to offer more opportunities for students of Food and Beverage Management—Culinary Arts Major in particular to gain more insights from industrial experts and learn more diversified cooking techniques. Participating students got to know more about regional cuisines and food cultures, gained new insights on gastronomy, thus went a step further in developing broad horizons and international perspectives, and laid a solid foundation for top-skill acquisition and deep understanding of the diverse culinary arts.
