The Macao International Aerospace Forum held two sub-forums at Macau University of Science and Technology, Forum II: Commercial LEO Innovations and Opportunities, and Forum III: Aerospace Culture and Science Popularization, respectively at N101 and O702 on November 9, 2018. The forums were attended by about 200 specialists, scholars, university teachers and students.
Forum II: Commercial LEO Innovations and Opportunities
Forum II: Commercial LEO Innovations and Opportunities was chaired by Mr. Jun Gao, General Manager of China Aerospace Science & Technology Consulting Co. Ltd. Speakers at the forum include Mr. Guangbao Zou, President of the China Aerospace Science and Industrial Corporation Space Department on the topic of “LEO Communication Satellite Constellations Scheme”, Mr. Xiyue Xu, Vice President of China Spacesat Co. Ltd. on the topic of “Introduction of the Hongyan Satellite Constellations”, Mr. Jianjun Zhang, Executive Vice Director of Chengdu Spaceon Group on the topic of “Cooperation and Win-Win – Thoughts on Measurement, Operation and Control of Commercial Space Development”, Mr. Tao Xie, CEO of Beijing Commsat Technology Development Co. Ltd. on the topic of “Trends, Hits and Elements of LEO Satellite Constellations”, Mr. Yuan An, Vice President of Space Star Technology Group Changsha on the topic of “The Remote Sensing Information Services System of Jilin 1 Satellite”, Mr. Feng Yang, CEO of Spacety Changsha on the topic of “Emerging Satellite Platforms and Innovation of Business Models”, and Mr. Dong Li, CEO of Micro Satellite Academy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on the topic of “The 2050 Satellite Constellations Scheme Oriented toward Training of Entrepreneurial Talents”.
Forum III: Aerospace Culture and Science Popularization
Forum III: Aerospace Culture and Science Popularization was chaired by Associate Professor Xiaozhou Yu from Northwestern Polytechnical University, and the speakers and their topics are Mr. Youbin Zhou, Deputy Director of the China Center for Aerospace Science and Technology International Communications on “Explorations and Practices in Innovative Education of Space Science and Technology”, Associate Professor Xiaozhou Yu on “the ‘Belt and Road’ Space Universities League”, Mr. Lai Jiang, Academic Director of the Youth Competition Center, China Education Association for International Exchange on “Space Education Carried out in Urban Design from a Space Perspective”, Mr. Ruixue Bai, CEO of Itaiking Technology Co. Ltd. on “Public Understanding of Space: Past & Future”, and Prof. Bao Mei, Assistant Director of the Space Science Institute, M.U.S.T. on “Innovative Insights and Practices in Communication of Space Science”. At the ensuing Roundtable Forum, Associate Prof. Xiaozhou Yu carried on to chair the session, and the guest speakers include Deputy Director Youbin Zhou, Academic Director Lai Jiang, President Ruixue Bai, Prof. Bao Mei, Mr. Travis Warner (representative of US Embassy), Ms. Xueyan Zhang (Secretary General, China Section, The 99s International Women Pilots), Prof. Yulin Deng (Dean, School of Life Science, Beijing Institute of Technology), and Danielle Szyszko.
The two-day Macao International Aerospace Forum (MIAF) was administrated by the Macao S.A.R. Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of P.R.C. in Macao S.A.R., and the China National Space Administration, and organized by the China Space Foundation and the Macao Foundation. Taking “Space Technologies and Urban Life” as its main theme, the Forum drew an audience of 300 space specialists and scholars from the USA, Europe, mainland China, and other regions. It is believed that the Forum can play a significant role in helping Macao to parlay its strengths in international communication and tourism, contribute to international cooperation for space development, take advantage of space science and technology, and join forces with relevant parties in co-building a prosperous future.
