Fu Ziying, Director of the Liaison Office in Macao visited M.U.S.T. commended its internationalization and innovation capability

Director Fu Ziying led the delegation of the Liaison Office of Central People’s Government of the Macao SAR visited Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) on the afternoon of 17th April, 2019, and were warmly welcomed by the University Management including Chancellor Liu Chak Wan and President Liu Liang. Accompanied by the University leaders, Director Fu and the delegation visited the SKL of Quality Research of Chinese Medicines of M.U.S.T. Director Fu indicated that he was very impressed with the SKL of Quality Research of Chinese Medicines, as well as the University’s outstanding research achievements which have made significant contributions to the moderate and diversified development of the Macao SAR economy. He also stated that the Liaison Office will continue to strongly support M.U.S.T. and induce M.U.S.T. to become more competitive in global development.

During the talk, Chancellor Liu extended a warm welcome to Director Fu and the delegation; he also expressed sincere gratitude to the Liaison Office for their support to M.U.S.T. ever since. President Liu reported to Director Fu on the University’s educational philosophy, major developments, research achievements, and recent development vision. President Liu stated that the University strongly implements the ‘duality of teaching and research’ model by adhering to the two elements of ‘quality’ and ‘innovation’, to actively promote the development of scientific research. M.U.S.T. is the first university in Macao to hold the flag-raising ceremony and commit to cultivate students’ patriotism. M.U.S.T. is located in Macao, adjacent to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; rooted in the motherland and open to the world, the University looks forward to investing in the development of the Greater Bay Area and making due contributions to the country’s development and construction.

Director Fu stated that he was very impressed with the SKL of Quality Research of Chinese Medicines of M.U.S.T. and noticed that the University has become an international institution with strong internationalization and innovation capability. The University also actively implements President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on schooling, including cultivating more outstanding students who affiliate themselves with the motherland and Macao, developing students as social talents who can develop and govern Macao after their graduation, creating more high-quality scientific research results, playing a significant role in local transformation and development. The Liaison Office will fully support M.U.S.T., follow and complete the instructions of President Xi. Director Fu pointed out that an university is a base for developing talents. Along with embodying this function, he wishes M.U.S.T. to develop continuously and prosperously to become a world-class university that attracts talents and elites from all over the world to Macao, thus improving the city’s status.
