Prof. Goh Kok Beng appointed as Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and tourism Management at M.U.S.T.

Prof. Goh Kok BengProf. Goh Kok Beng has been appointed as Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) on 1st May 2019. The University aligns closely with the needs of Macao since its establishment, upholds an equal teaching and research philosophy to cultivate high-quality talents for Macao. M.U.S.T. management believes that with Prof. Goh’s rich experiences in teaching and research in hospitality industry, FHTM will be led to nurture more outstanding talents who will help to serve the diversification and sustainable development of Macao economy.

Prof. Goh has over 30 years of teaching and research experience in hospitality and tourism management discipline, he started teaching at Texas Tech University since 1989, and got his doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University in the U.S. Prof. Goh was appointed to several administrative roles during his career at both Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University. He served as Associate Dean in the College of Human Sciences and Director of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Oklahoma State University.

Prof. Goh has served as reviewer for various hospitality research journals and has participated in research of the industry and consulted with numerous companies through U.S. and Asia. He has maintained close contact with industry professionals and has served as Board Member of Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association, Oklahoma Restaurant Association and is one of the founding board members of the Hospitality Educator Association of Texas. Prof. Goh has been honored with many awards including the Fulbright Scholar award in recognition of his achievements.

After gaining the “TedQual” (Tourism Education Quality) certification from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2007, FHTM was delighted to receive the renewal of the UNWTO TedQual Certification for a maximum time period of 4 years (from 2017 to 2021). In addition, the Faculty ranked among top 100 in the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in 2018. Over the years, FHTM has nurtured nearly 5,000 graduates, under the leadership of Prof. Goh, the Faculty will continue to cultivate for Macao’s hospitality and tourism industry a new generation of talents with international horizons, contributing to strengthen Macao’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
