A Russian delegation headed by President Petr Vitalevich Glybochko of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University visited Macau University of Science and Technology in the afternoon of May 9, 2019. They were warmly received by President Liu Liang, Vice Dean Nivritti Gajanan Patil of Faculty of Medicine, and Assistant Director Leung Lai Han of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines. The two parties signed the agreement to promote cooperation between the two universities in medical education and sciences.
At the reception, President Liu Liang introduced the development of M.U.S.T. over its 19 years’ history, pointing out that M.U.S.T. remains the largest-scale comprehensive university in Macao, and that in recent years the University has made great efforts in bringing in excellent talents from overseas so as to reinforce its faculty team with a high international profile. Earlier this year, the University was approved to offer Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery by the Macao S.A.R. Government, inaugurating its own Faculty of Medicine in March, making the University the 1st in Macao to own programs of both Chinese medicines and Western medicines. President Glybochko expressed that he was impressed with the fast development and abundant research outcome of M.U.S.T. The two universities wish that by virtue of signing the agreement, the two parties are able to launch joint initiatives in education, research, teachers and students exchanges and projects applications.

Following the reception, President Liu Liang accompanied the guests on a tour to the Center for Continuing Medical and Health Education and the Center of Excellence for Professional Medical Development Introduction, Faculty of Medicine, the State of Key Laboratory in Lunar and Planetary Sciences, and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines.
The I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the oldest leading medical university in Russia, has a history of over 260 years. It plays a dominant role in the health system of Russia, and has wide connections and partnerships with various health organizations and universities across the world. The University is also home to council advisors to the World Health Organization and Nobel Prize winning emeritus professors.
