Thomas Ming Swi Chang, Fellow of Royal College Physicians Canada and Royal Society of Canada, Foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and ‘father of the world’s artificial cells’, and guests, visited Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) on the morning of 5th August, 2019. They were warmly received by the Vice President Jiang Zhihong, Vice Dean and Director of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostic Centre and Pathology Department of the University Hospital Christopher Lam Wai Kei, and Chief Executive Officer of the University Hospital Chang Chi Wai.
Vice President Jiang introduced the background of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research of Chinese Medicines, M.U.S.T., and pointed out that Chinese medicine and biomedicine are the key development directions and advantages of the University. The University actively promotes the industrialization of scientific research results and owns the most international patent grants among Hong Kong and Macao universities. Academician Chang delivered an introduction on the research and application of artificial cell innovation followed by a deep discussion on the matter, and the agreement that there is a wide application prospect of artificial cells. The two sides will extend cooperation and promote the transformation of scientific research results around the theme of ‘Respect, Platform, Cooperation and Win-win’.
After the meeting, the guests visited the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research of Chinese Medicines.
