Prof. Li Miao from Oklahoma State University Presented an On-Line Workshop named ‘Toward a Productive and Impactful Research Endeavor’

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held its 6th Summer Research Seminar Series on July 15th, 2020. Prof. Li Miao, Oklahoma State University, was invited to give a lecture named ‘Toward a Productive and Impactful Research Endeavor’, and the workshop was attended by FHTM Dean Prof. Ben K. Goh, Program Director Zhang Yang and nearly 100 FHTM teachers and postgraduate students. This workshop was sponsored by Macao Foundation.

Prof. Li Miao from Oklahoma State University

Professor Miao is a Professor in School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Oklahoma State University. She is also Associate Editor of Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR) and she has refereed articles in top journals. Professor Miao’s research focuses on consumer behavior in hospitality service consumption. She is particularly interested in and known for her work in interpersonal dynamics, technology-and-human interactions and emerging consumer behavior at hospitality and tourism service encounters, and consumer responses to food labels and menu labels.

Professor Miao indicated that self-discipline, concentration, persistence and execution are significant elements for doing research. To clarify the research direction and purpose and enjoy the research process is also necessary for doing research. FHTM teachers and students enthusiastically questioned and discussed the thematic. FHTM doctoral student Wang Yixuan had a clearer understanding of the meaning of doing research and the pleasure and achievement overtime. Doctoral student Yang Kuo believed that this lecture expands academic theoretical thinking and enhances interest in doing research.
