The 8th Young Macanese Chef Competition co-organized by Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) and Macau Culinary Association (MCA) was held on November 27, 2020 at IFTM. Mr. Solomon Shan, a 4th year BFBM student from Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of M.U.S.T. won second place for his Macanese dish “Bacalhau with Coconut Turmeric Sauce, Fondant Potato and Fried Chili Leaves”. The faculty is truly proud of him and congratulate him on his achievement.

This is the first time that M.U.S.T. has participated in the Young Macanese Chef Competition. All participants were asked to prepare a modern presentation of the traditional dish with bacalhau, turmeric and coconut milk. The competition aims to provide a platform for young local chefs to showcase their culinary skills, while promoting the culinary arts, Macanese cuisine included.

After the competition, Solomon said that this competition gave him a deeper understanding of the local cuisine. He learned a lot of culinary expertise from other contestants and teachers. He is very happy with the result, and sincerely thanks the faculty for their support.
