To carry out “The cooperation agreement on the joint development of scientific and technological research for geomagnetic observation and a satellite technology test between the National Space Administration of China and the Government of Macao SAR”, accelerate the improvement of the scientific and technological innovation capacity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, enhance the vitality of scientific and technological innovation in Macao, foster new driving forces for Macao’s diverse development, mobilize the passion of science among adolescents in Macao and strengthen their scientific literacy, the Macau University of Science and Technology, the Chinese Educators Association of Macau, the Union of Catholic Schools of Macau, and DFH Satellite Co., Ltd. signed the “Memorandum of Understanding on the Creation, Design and Research of Macao Science Popularization Satellite” on the day of the 20th anniversary of M.U.S.T.
Zhang Keke, Director of State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences, Chen Hong, President of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Zhou Bohui, President of Union of Catholic Schools of Macau, and Jiang Jun, CEO of DFH Satellite Co., Ltd. jointly signed the memorandum of understanding, in the presence of Liu Chak Wan, Chancellor of M.U.S.T., Liu Liang, President of M.U.S.T., Yang Baohua, Vice President of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Zhang Hongtai, President of China Academy of Space Technology (the Fifth Institute of CASC), Ceng Yaochang, Deputy Director of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Kou Kam Fai, Chief Supervisor of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Zheng Jiezhao, Deputy Director of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Lei Cheok Kin, Deputy Director of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Lei Meng Kei, Director of Tourism Department of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Loi Kat Sat, Deputy Director of Finance Department of Chinese Educators Association of Macau.
The four parties cooperation includes: the Chinese Education Association of Macau and the Union of Catholic Schools of Macau will organize Macanese students to participate in the creative and design activities of Macao Science Popularization Satellite. They will also participate in the creative and design selection and evaluation activities of Macao Science Popularization Satellite conducted by M.U.S.T. and DFH Satellite Co., Ltd. According to the selection results, some students will be organized to participate in the design, manufacture, test, and launch of Macao Science Popularization Satellite. After the successful launch of the satellite, some students will be invited to participate in the in-orbit satellite control, satellite data processing, and satellite achievement demonstration activities at the Satellite Ground Control Center of M.U.S.T. In addition, experts from M.U.S.T. will give lectures on space science and space exploration to students in Macao; DFH Satellite Co., Ltd. will hold space technology lectures on the development process of Macao Science Popularization Satellite for students in the Chinese mainland and carry out relevant space experience activities.
Adolescents in Macao come to M.U.S.T. to celebrate the “Macau Star, Aerospace Love, Chinese Dream” Aerospace Science Exhibition on the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland
M.U.S.T. organizes more than 100 popular science activities every year in the form of popular science training courses, study tours, science and education experiments, university science camps, scientific research camps, and others. In accordance with the relevant policies of the Macao government on promoting a scientific and technological society, to serve the Macao society and improving the scientific quality of the Macao residents, especially the adolescents, the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine of M.U.S.T. will carry out scientific communication activities as well as the research, demonstration, promotion, and service of popular science.
