The “Alumni Talk -- Hotelier Experience Sharing” Symposium was Held Successfully

Organized by the Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) Alumni Federation, and co-organized by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of M.U.S.T. and the FHTM Students’ Association of the Students’ Union of M.U.S.T., the “Alumni Talk —— Hotelier Experience Sharing” Symposium was held on November 18, 2022. The event was attended by Prof. Pang Chuan, Vice President of M.U.S.T. and Chairman of the General Assembly of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Dr. Yang Chieh-Yun, Program Director of FHTM, Dr. Feng Yan, Program Director of FHTM, Associate Professor Dr. Pai Chen-Kuo, Assistant Professor Dr. Hong Fang, Assistant Professor, Dr. Lai Tin Hang, Assistant Professor, Mr. Yu Wai Hang, Lecturer, Ms. Vivian Tang, Vice Chief Director and Secretary-general of the M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, Ms. Genie Chang, Director of the M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, and over 250 students and teachers at D Hall. Nearly 400 students participated online. This symposium was sponsored by Macao Foundation.

The main purpose of this symposium was to provide a platform for the alumni to share their working experience in the hotels with the current students to let them understand the working environment and actual operation of the industry. Prof. Ben K. Goh welcomed the arrival of alumni and distinguished guests. The faculty hopes that through these events students may have the opportunities to have close contact and dialogue with alumni, learn more about the industry, and broaden students horizons.

Four alumni in leading luxury hotel services were invited to the event. They were Wang Shengwen, Zhu Yijing, Li Haoming, and Hong Zhengying. They shared the practical experience of working and provided their advice to current students. Lastly, a comprehensive and in-depth interactive discussion took place covering subjects from hotel internship, resume preparation, job searching skill, interview, working environment and enterprise culture, and future career. The entire event lasted for two hours.
