The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the East China Normal University held the Second Student Online Business Salon

In order to encourage excellence in education and to promote the academic exchange between M.U.S.T. and E.C.N.U., the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) organized the second Student Online Business Salon with the Professional Degree Education Center of Faculty of Economics and Management of East China Normal University (E.C.N.U.) on December 14th, 2022. The students from both universities shared ideas and opinions on the topic of “Comparative Analysis of the Development Environment of Tourism and Modern Service Industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta” and explored the development of tourism and modern service industry in the post-epidemic era. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Program Director Dr. Zhang Yang, Assistant Professor Liu Jing, Prof. Yang Yong, Vice Dean of School of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Management of E.C.N.U., and more than 200 teachers and students participated in the event online and offline.

Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, delivered a speech and hoped that the students would learn from each other through the business salon and contribute to the development of domestic and international tourism together. Prof. Yang Yong expressed that teachers and students from both universities would communicate and exchange with each other more frequently and in a wider scope so that they could bring more knowledge and experience to both sides and explore the development direction of tourism and the modern service industry together.

Ten groups of students from M.U.S.T. and E.C.N.U. presented their ideas at this business salon. They analyzed the development environment of tourism and the modern service industry in the context of the epidemic in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta. They also made rationalization suggestions. Program Director Dr. Zhang Yang, Assistant Professor Liu Jing, and Prof. Yang Yong commented on the students’ reports. They praised the theoretical research and practical exploration of the students and expected continuous academic communication and cooperation between M.U.S.T. and E.C.N.U. in the future. The students expressed that the salon had brought the brainstorm from different cultural backgrounds and they had come up with a lot of new ideas and strategies. They looked forward to more ways to communicate with each other in the future.
