To celebrate the coming 15th Anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology, the Ballroom Dance Team headed for Hong Kong on 19th October 2014 to participate in the 13th President’s Cup of Asian Dance Open Tournament, returning fully loaded with a total of four gold, five silver and three bronze medals! In this match, Ballroom Team sent four pairs of Latin and two pairs of Modern competitors, respectively taking part in the Latin Beginners group A and B, Novice, Open as well as the Modern Beginners group A and B. It is worth mentioning that it was the first time for three pairs among the players to join in the match on behalf of our university, and such remarkable achievements they made were really beyond praise! Zhou Zhixun and Wu Haijing, who participated in Latin Open for the first time, resisted pressure and went all out to win the bronze medal as expected, and this couple also captured the silver medal in the Latin Novice. Two other Latin pairs, namely, Jiang Jiahuang and Zhang Tingyu as well as Du Hangzhou and Zhang Zijia, who also competed for the first time, stayed calmed and steady as usual in the competition and finally gained1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. Meanwhile, it was commendable that Jiang Jiahuang kept training despite his illness before the game, so the precious gold medal they won is the best return for their efforts. Lee Hongru and Han Yiduo who have a lot of experience captured 1 gold medal and 1 silver one as all expected. Then take a look at the Modern groups. It was the second time for Li Honglin and Zhang Xinrou to race in the game, after accumulating and summing up the experience from the last game, they improved themselves timely through more diligent practice, and finally won two shiny gold medals this time. And great congrats to Liang Haoming and Li Yujiao who also participated in the competition for the first time finally defeated most rivals with their outstanding performance and achieved two silver medals at last.
This time ourBallroom Dance Team enjoyed such a rewarding and fruitful experience, and the participants were very proud and pleased that they were finally rewarded for their sweat and pains. It is believed that they will make persistent efforts and do well in the following competition.
