“2015 Kiang Wu Cup”, a friendly debate competition between fresh debaters from Macau colleges and universities, hosted by Student Union Debating Team of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, was held in Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau on March 14. The competition involved many debate teams including MUST, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, the City University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, etc. MUST sent Huang Jiawei, Huo Chuxian, Deng Xiaolin and Liu Chaoying to participate in this competition.
The motion of the competition was "The development of science and technology should have ethical boundaries", the proposition side was MUST and the opposition side was Macao Polytechnic Institute. Both sides discussed the definitions of ethic and development of science and technology from different perspectives. Most debaters of the competition were fresh ones, so they displayed a little bit nervous. However, both sides refuted back and forth, which fully reflected the debating spirit of persuading sentimentally and rationally. All debaters performed well in the competition which ended with debaters’ wonderful and fierce debate, and some judges made brilliant comments on both sides.
After the competition, the host gave MUST team souvenirs and posed for photos together. This exchange activity enhanced the relationship between MUST and the Macao Polytechnic Institute, provided the opportunities of communication and learning as well as valuable experience to the new players of both sides.
