The lecture "I am at the Art Field" of the "Art Lecture Series" co-presented by the Academy of Film M.U.S.T and the Culture & Sports Development Office of MUST, was successfully held in the afternoon of November 15, 2022 in the auditorium N101 of Macau University of Science and Technology.This lecture invited Mr. Gao Yu, a young Chinese contemporary artist, to give a lecture.
At the beginning of the lecture, Mr. Gao talked about the process of his understanding of the Art Field from scratch. Starting from the concept of the Art Field,he introduced various works of art and his personal understanding, and put forward his views on the limitations of artistic creation: "Art It should not be restricted by a fixed space or class. Art should return to the field and be presented in the vast world." Then, Mr. Gao talked about his experience in the 7th Echigo-Tsumari Art Field in Japan: the work "The wind from sky" research experience, creative ideas, difficulties encountered and moved. Mr. Gao raised a question: "Do we hope that art will enter the countryside, or do we hope that the countryside will not die?" Then he elaborated on whether art is useful to change the reality of the countryside.
Next, Mr. Gao introduced the upcoming Art Field Nanhai and some works. Mr. Gao shared his work "Planting Dream House". Mr. Gao mentioned that the work is "a surreal concept based on the preservation of life". The plants in the work are integrated into the surrounding environment, expressing his vision for future rural life best wishes. Then, Mr. Gao mentioned the difference between the creation experience at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field in Japan and the Art Field Nanhai.
At the end of the lecture, Mr. Gao asked a question: "Firstly, do you think that the countryside needs art? Secondly, do you think that rural art really plays a role in rural life?" The students who answered on the spot believed that the countryside needs art, and rural art effect on rural life.
