Vitor Ng, Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa


Mr. Vitor Ng entered the business field at a young age; he thrived and achieved great success, which made him a well-known figure in Hong Kong and Macao. In 1984, he was awarded Medal of Honor for Industry and Commerce by the then Macao government. He is a witness to Macao’s development in industry and commerce and its exploration in the international trade market over the past fifty years; he has visionary insights into Macao’s economic environment and structural reorganization, in particular the influx of foreign capital and logistic constructions. He spent every effort in advancing Macao’s economic prosperity and made tremendous contributions; he was elected to be the Honorary President for Life of the Macau Chamber of Commerce and the Macau Association of Exporters and Importers.

He has years of experience in politics; he’s been a member of the Macau Legislative Assembly for six consecutive terms; he served as the Convener for Economy of the Preparatory Committee for the Macao S.A.R., Vice Chairman of the Macau Basic Law Development Association, member of the Selection Committee of the first Macao S.A.R. Government, and member of the 8th and 9th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Later, he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Macao Foundation, spending efforts in advancing all-range development of Macao society in culture, economy, education, science, and scholarship. In 2010, the Chief Executive of the Macao S.A.R. Government proclaimed recognitions for Mr. Vitor Ng’s achievements and contributions in the 8th issue of the “Official Gazette of the Macao S.A.R. Government”; in 2014, he was awarded the Golden Lotus Medal of Honour by the Macao S.A.R. Government.

He is deeply attached to the Chinese space program. As early as in 2003 and 2005 when Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6 were launched, he made two donations to the China Space Foundation on behalf of the Macao Foundation. In 2008, at the Macau Award Presentation Ceremony for Astronauts of the Third Manned Spacecraft Shenzhou 7 and Ceremony of Donation by Macau Public to JiuQuan and Xichang Satellite Launch Center, he issued an invitation to the space heroes for a visit to Macao, and said, “I’m sure your visit will be given the warmest welcome by all Macao citizens”; his love for the country and for Macao touched people’s heart.

He is a political and business legend, who has his heart attached to China’s space program. He is President for Life of the Macau Chamber of Commerce and the Macau Association of Exporters and Importers, member of the Independent Commission for Recommendation of Judges of the Macao S.A.R., and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the World Trade Center Macau.
