Mr. Lei has been recognized as a famous scholar, writer and journalist in Macao.

As a journalist, Mr. Lei is enthusiastic about the development of culture, art and publication. Being devoted to social affairs over many years, he has made, and continues to make, a significant and worthy contribution to the promotion of public welfare, service to Macao citizens, and the development of a fair and just society in Macao. “Macao Daily News”, led by Mr. Lei, is known to every household in Macao. Its influence has also spread to mainland China, not least in the Pearl River Delta region.

Mr. Lei is ceaseless in his thinking and writing, devoting himself to laborious work. In these endeavours. With a broad historical and cultural knowledge, he has authored Ancient and Modern Macao, the Hou Kong Series of Literary Works, and a range of academic and cultural literature; he has compiled numerous collections of historical photographs of Macao, and has hosted seminars on the culture, history and literature of Macao. Mr. Lei, who loves this city deeply, is an intellectual of unique insight.

Here we have the president of “Macao Daily News”, the Chairman of the Federation of Journalists in Macao, the Chairman of the Pen of Macao, the Chairman of the Association for Publications of Macao; today Mr. Lei Pang Chu is awarded the honorary doctorate by Macao University of Science and Technology.
