On the afternoon of August 31, the 2018/2019 academic year orientation for Pre-university students was held in D Hall from 15:00-17:00. This grand annual meeting of the university teachers, staff and new students as well as the parents aims to prepare the new PU students for the life and study in M.U.S.T. in the upcoming academic year.
Guests and speakers attending the orientation include Coordinator of Pre-university Programme Ms. Gao Ya Juan, Assistant Administrative Officer Ms. Tam Kit Leng, Assistant Administrative Officer Mr. Ho Weng Fai, Course Coordinator of Chinese subjects and Assistant Professor of University International College, Dr. Yang Qing Fan, Assistant Professor in University International College, Dr. Zheng Ying Feng, Assistant Professor in University International College, Dr. Cheng Wen Li. Ms. Gao hosted and addressed the orientation, introducing the framework of the whole PU programme and duties of the Department of General Education Office. And Ms. Tam explained in detail the student-related law in Macau as well as issues concerning visa and consultancy service necessary for life on campus.
It is a tradition of inviting some bachelor student speakers who have once studied in PU program to share with these new students their own experiences and tips as to the life in Macau and study in M.U.S.T.. This year we are lucky to have 4 student speakers, particularly when we have Xu Gen who has just finished his postgraduate study in M.U.S.T.. His 7- year-study in our university greatly encouraged the students present at the orientation.
At the end of the meeting, Assistant Professor Zheng Ying Feng delivered a min speech introducing the duties of the student mentor’s from the perspective of moral education on behalf of the three mentors this year. At 17:20 the orientation ended with heated discussion and interaction between the speakers and the new students. DGE office is determined to work harder and willing to innovate so that we can better ushers facilitate the PU students to have not only a smooth first year study but also a splendid further academic study life in their dream faculties in M.U.S.T.
