FHTM Master Students’ Field- Trip to Hong Kong

In March 27th 2015, with the aim of further enhancing FHTM students’ experiential learning, and increasing their understanding of the real practices in the tourism industry, Visiting Assistant Prof. Dr. Irini Tang has led a group of Master students touring  the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) and the Cathay Pacific / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2015.

The morning started at the HKCEC, and the students were briefed by the representatives of the SME Centre of HKCEC. Students have found this session helpful to start off their businesses by launching an exhibition or trade fair with their own products in the near future. In the afternoon, students enjoyed a rugby game at the 40th Anniversary Hong Kong Rugby Sevens. Students were truly impacted by witnessing such a mega international sports event. During the visit, students observed and experienced all the event activities, gimmicks, marketing and promotions, and selling technique of food and beverages. It was a great experiential session for the students. This impressive visit has been quite beneficial to the students from a better connection of theoretical knowledge to the real practice. With a great anticipation, the visit should promote MUST to the related industry and establish FHTM’s partnership with the MICE operators in Hong Kong.
