Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management arranged a hotel visit to Morpheus Hotel on November 13, 15 and 20 in six different tours including around 120 students who are studying “Travel and Hotel Service Management”. The purpose of the visit is to let students have a better understanding about hotel service management and operations. In this visit, students can observe the different areas of “Heart of House” and Morpheus Hotel. Students felt that “City of Dream” (COD) group care about their employees and they appreciate the perception of visiting Morpheus Hotel.
First, students visited COD “Heart of House” including staff recreation area, staff workflow structure, star employee awards, staff activities announcement, and career advancement of employee. Students were told that one of the staff started his career from a janitor and now has become the Director of Environment Services. This story provided our students a deep insight for future career development and planning. Furthermore, the contribution of COB to the society and the social activities for employees introduced have indicated to the students the employee care and social responsibilities of COD; representing the strengths and reputation of COD.
After visiting the COD “Heart of House”, students proceeded to visit Morpheus Hotel. This hotel was established in June 15, 2018. The design of the hotel was done by Ms. Zaha Hadid before she died. It is a first high rise building structured by a free skeleton style. This spectacular construction looks like a piece of art. The lobby provides an impressive image for visitors for its unique outlook and atmosphere. Room facilities are fully automated and activated by touch-screen technology. All linen and bedding facilities are high quality and comfortable (over 1000 threads); providing customers with supreme accommodation stay. The mattress can be adjusted to a suitable level for any housekeeping staff to change the linen without bending. This is indeed a considerate arrangement which can demonstrate the care of employees’ health and safety from the hotel.
Students appreciate this valuable and rewarding opportunity to visualize the hotel design, facilities, service operation and management. Students expressed this hotel visit a valuable observation for them and look forward to visiting other hotels in the future.
