Good News! MUST Team Won the Grand Prize in the 8th "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area IT Application System Development Competition"!

On November 11, 2023, the 8th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area IT Application System Development Competition Grand Final was held at Guangzhou (International) Science and Technological Achievements Transformation Base of Tianhe. The “MAPS” team, composing of professors and students from Faculty of Innovation and Engineering, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), won the Grand Prize (Bronze) and the Best Application Award, and was invited to participate in the exhibition of China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Achievement Fair. This is the only team from Hong Kong and Macao that won the Grand Prize.

The founding members of the team are Yang Qin and Io San Tai, postgraduates in the program of Applied Mathematics and Data Science from School of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Innovation and Engineering, under the supervision of Associate Prof. Xiaoping Lu, Assistant Prof. Jinyu Tian and Assistant Prof. Ling Zhou. The team focuses on digitalization and artificial intelligence technology, providing a series of services including design, development, application and promotion of intelligent solutions to address the real-life problem of parking, and is committed to promoting the application of cutting-edge technologies in the Greater Bay Area.

Starting from a digital perspective, the "MAPS" project uses data analysis, artificial intelligence, software development and other technologies to solve the long-standing parking problems in Macao, and proposes a set of digital intelligent parking solutions, which aim to enhance the parking experience of the public, optimize the parking management system, and inject new vitality into the urban development of Macao.

The "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area IT Application System Development Competition" aims to broaden the global vision of young students from universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promote interaction and exchange among them and neighboring regions, and enhance their IT professional practice and innovation ability. The event has been successfully held for seven times and has attracted more than 7,500 students and teachers from more than 60 universities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the neighboring areas.

Teachers and students from the Faculty of Innovation and Engineering of MUST stood out from the competition, fully demonstrating the talents and strengths of MUST students in the field of information technology, and winning the honor for the university, as well as adding glory to the development of local science and technology in Macao.
