"Chasing Dreams in the Sky and Exploring the Deep Sea - China Aerospace and Navigation Technology Gathering in Macao" Event
Lecture series on "Innovation and Development of China's Launch Vehicle Technology" and "Achievements and Prospects of China's Lunar Exploration Project"

Sponsored by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, and the China National Space Administration, co-organized by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation, "Technological Innovation and Development of China's Launch Vehicle Technology" and "Achievements and Prospects of China's Lunar Exploration Project" hosted by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Education and Youth Development Bureau, National Space Administration Press and Publicity Office, China Space Foundation, and M.U.S.T., respectively on the morning of November 29, 2023, in the university auditorium of Building D and in the afternoon of Building N were successfully held. These two lectures were conducted by Academician Fan Ruixiang, Director of the Science and Technology Committee and Chief Engineer of the First Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and Professor Pei Zhaoyu, the current Chief Designer of the Chang'e-8 mission of the fourth phase of the lunar exploration project were invited to deliver the lectures. M.U.S.T. Vice President Jiang Zhihong and Tam Kwong Hang delivered speeches, welcoming and thanking Academician Fan Ruixiang and Professor Pei Zhaoyu for giving special lectures to M.U.S.T. teachers and students.

In the morning lecture, Academician Fan Ruixiang explained from five aspects. First, he supplemented us with basic aerospace knowledge, such as the basic principles and rules of rocket launches and typical rocket files. Then, he took us into the launch vehicle. With the help of simulation images and tables, multiple rocket systems such as power systems and structural systems, as well as important theories such as the characteristics and difficulties of rockets, are explained to us. Later, he gave an in-depth review of the historical journey of China's aerospace industry. The Long March rockets, Shenzhou series manned spacecraft, Chang'e, and Beidou series satellites are waiting for our country to cross milestones one after another. After that, he summarized the new progress of our country's launch vehicles in the new era. Finally, he took us to look forward to the future direction of aerospace development by analyzing the research and development progress of multiple international aerospace companies to gain insights into the development trend. At the same time, he also proposed that the development direction of our country should be to invest in the research and development of heavy-duty launch vehicles, manned spacecraft to the moon, reuse technology and payload capacity, and lead cutting-edge technologies.

At the beginning of the afternoon lecture, Chief Designer Pei Zhaoyu said that the international community has pointed out that human exploration of the moon has entered a new stage of discovering and utilizing lunar resources, and the cislunar space is the next exploration target of great significance to the sustainable development of mankind. Then, he introduced the emergence and development of the three-step strategy of "circling, landing and returning" of China's lunar exploration project, such as the successful launch and sample return of Chang'e-5 in 2020. Finally, he explained the future goals of China's lunar exploration planning, focusing on the plan to establish an international lunar scientific research station, which was inspired by the Antarctic scientific research station and will be integrated into international science and engineering cultivation projects. The International Lunar Research Station will be listed as the first priority in the field of space and astronomy. The vision of the International Lunar Research Station is to make pioneering contributions to the peaceful use of space by mankind and to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

As the lecture came to the end, Professor Pei emphasized, "China's aerospace industry has entered an era where application is the goal. The starry sky is vast and human exploration should never end." As Academician Fan concluded, "Exploring the vast universe, developing aviation, and establishing an aviation power are our unremitting pursuit of the aerospace dream! We should strive to establish an air transportation system with stronger capabilities and more diversified methods to support our country’s early realization of its space dream!"
