Experience Sharing and Exchange Meeting for Undergraduate Students Was Successfully Held by Faculty of Law

Sponsored by the Faculty of Law and co-organized by the Students’ Union, the Experience Sharing and Exchange Meeting of Undergraduate Students was successfully held online at 14:30 on 28th October 2021 to help freshmen better integrate into university life and master learning methods of courses on the law. As the guest lecturers, Program Director Xie Geng Liang, Assistant Professor Chen Bo, Assistant Professor Xue Wen Chao, Assistant Professor Zhou Ting presented the meeting with all the freshmen.

Sophomore student Sun Chen Hao Jie, Junior student Liao Pei Hong and Senior Student Wang Xin Miao shared their understanding and experience on learning methods, extracurricular activities, career planning, and other aspects. Combining with her own experience in studying and extracurricular competitions, Sun Chen Hao Jie shared her viewpoints on why to read, which to read, and how to take notes. She encouraged new students to establish proper learning concepts and take enhancing basic knowledge on the law as the task of top priority. Liao Pei Hong suggested that freshmen should clarify their own positioning and learning status, and implement learning goals. Under the guidance of teachers, students should learn new knowledge with framing consciousness and summarize ideas by taking reading notes. Besides, he said that it was also important to do exercise and stroke a proper balance between work and rest. The four years’ life in university was a very important turning point of forming values. Liao Pei Hong encouraged everyone to set goals step by step, keep learning and identify the direction of future life. Wang Xin Miao advised that students establish their own learning habits and systems, keep good attitudes, allocate their time reasonably, try to challenge themselves, and explore suitable directions in the process. She urged students to take long-term views and abandon formalized competition and self-moved work. They should identify their own goals, cultivate independent judgment and a sense of responsibility by actively participating in extracurricular activities. She wished everyone a fruitful four-year university life through placid and determined effort.

Affirmed the significance of this meeting and wonderful sharing of the three students, all teachers also gave their suggestions to new students. Assistant Professor Zhou Ting encouraged students to develop abilities of independent thinking, rational planning, practical working, and self-determination. He suggested students establish clear goals for university life and put plans into practice with conscientious manners. Assistant Professor Chen Bo advised that students have clear self-positioning and better understand themselves through persistent reading and thinking, he also suggested students consider their situations and goals when referring to others’ experiences. Assistant Professor Xue Wen Chao suggested that students develop their own learning habits and logical thinking, learn to think independently soon, and arouse the passion of learning through communicating with teachers. He also advised new students to calm down and avoid over-anxiety in the process of integrating into university life. Assistant Professor Xie Geng Liang encouraged students to be truly independent, pursue the growth of personality and integrate into the rich life of the university. Besides, he also hoped students could make friends with teachers and classmates and improve their thinking ability.

The new students benefited a lot from the teachers’ valuable advice and the seniors’ experiences. It is hoped that students in the Faculty of Law could saddle up to pursue their dreams and live the day to the full, writing a colorful chapter in the four years’ university life.
