Students from the Faculty of Law won the Second Prize in the Third Data-Driven Innovation Research Competition for the University of China

The final round of “ The Third Data-Driven Innovation Research Competition for the University of China” ended on 13th November. 2021, which was held in the form of an online meeting. Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dai Meng Liang, Li Yingnan, postgraduate of Criminal Justice of Class of 2019, participated in the competition and finally won the second prize.

Aiming at improving data consciousness of college teachers and students and developing data solving ability of students, “The Third Data-Driven Innovation Research Competition for the University of China” was designed to stimulate interdisciplinary innovative research with problem-orienting and promote innovative research and teaching driven by data, enhancing exchange and cooperation between universities and enterprises. It was reported that 192 teams organized by 977 students from 159 universities and colleges participated in the competition, which covered selected topics in humanity and social science, book and information science, hygiene and health, government administration, economic management, computer science, public management and data management and Chinese families tracking investigation. After a series of steps including training and seminar, issue of specialized projects, submission, and evaluation of works, ten teams with different backgrounds from different universities reached the final round.

Li Ying Nan, postgraduate of Criminal Justice of Faculty of Law, MUST, is the only member from Macao who reached the final round, His paper “Research on temporal and spatial Variation of theft crime in a city in southwestern China - from the perspective of urban facilities distribution” won the second prize in the final by its solid content, outstanding innovation ability and great performance in the final debate session. Standing out from nine teams from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Sun Yat-sen University, and Nanjing University, Li Yang Nan won the second prize and brought honor and glory to the university.
