Alumni Association of Faculty of Law Made Suggestions and Offered Advice for Law-based Governance of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin

The Dean of Law School of MUST, Professor Fang Quan, Director-General of Alumni Association of Faculty of Law, Barrister Chang San Chi, Deputy Director-General of Alumni Association of Faculty of Law, Assistant Professor Zhou Ting, and other alumni presented this forum.

Deputy Director Wang Heng delivered a speech, he said that this forum made a great significance and he was confident in the cooperation between the legal circle in Macao and Mainland. He urged the people presented to make continuous contributions to the law-based construction of the Great Bay Area and Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Experts had in-depth discussion and exchange surrounding the three major topics of the legal system of new industries of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the convergence of civil and commercial affairs systems, and cross-domain dispute resolution. Several legal representatives from Guangdong and Macao made suggestions and offered advice from perspectives of legislation, judiciary, arbitration, and service respectively. Three alumni from the Faculty of Law gave keynote speeches. Deputy Director-General of Alumni Association of Faculty of Law, Assistant Professor Zhou Ting suggested improving multiple dispute resolution mechanisms in the zone through establishing neutral evaluation attached to courts in the early stage, building up dispute resolution mechanism of case guide offered by courts, and setting up cooperative mediation systems. Lawyer Yang Yang, Director of Alumni Association of Faculty of Law suggested promoting a coherence mechanism of regulations on civil and commercial affairs between the Zone and Macao from the perspectives of government, legislation, courts, and arbitration agencies. Ph.D. Feng Yan Long, member of the Alumni Association of Faculty of Law suggested that the civil and commercial affairs mechanism in the Zone should be connected to that in Macao and geared towards international standards, as well as strive to enhance the development of finance according to the requirement of “The General Plan for the Construction of Hengqin Cooperation Zone and Qianhai Cooperation Zone”. An alumnus of Faculty of Law, Professor of Guangdong University of Technology Qiu Zhi Qiao and Director of Beijing Jingshi Law Firm Shenzhen Office He Shu Kui also presented and made speeches.
