The delegation of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration led by President Wang Rui Sen paid a visit to the MUST Faculty of Law on May 18, 2022. Dean Fang Quan, Program Director Bi Jing Wei, Program Director Mou Xiao Bo and Associate Professor Huang Ming Jian attended the reception. The delegation consisted of Vice President Wu Xue Ting of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration, Vice President Xu Zhi Ming of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration, Zhang Ning from the Administration Department of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration, Case Secretary Ms. Liu Min Shi and Mr. Chen Wei Hong from Hengqin Arbitration Center of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration.

During the symposium, Dean Fang Quan introduced the MUST Faculty of Law, including the scale of students, features of teaching, scientific research platform, affiliated institutes and external cooperation and exchange in the passing 22 years since its founding. The Faculty of Law sets up the Master of International Arbitration program. In 2014, the Research Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution of the Faculty of Law was officially established. The Centre has completed several research subjects and reports. Moreover, teachers of the Centre also teach courses in the Arbitration Center of World Trade Center Macau, committing to promoting the exchanges on arbitration between Macao and other regions. Many of the faculty members and researchers of the Centre work as arbitrators, mediators and expert consultants in well-known academic research institutions, arbitration institutions and mediation institutions including Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration. Then, President Wang Rui Sen also introduced the basic situation of Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration, its structural reform and development. Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration strives to enhance the legal system of arbitration, promote international commercial arbitration system, explore diversified solutions to commercial disputes and serves for the construction of international and law-based business climate. It is the first standing arbitration body where procedures of decision making, execution and supervision were independently operated but effectively connected. The number of Macao arbitrators in Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration ranks first among the mainland arbitration institutions.
The symposium
The MUST Faculty of Law and Zhuhai Court of International Arbitration have long-standing cooperation. It is expected that the two sides will continue their close cooperation and take advantages of the geographic location to share resources and carry out practical cooperation in students’ internship, academic research, personnel training, etc. Th two sides will join hands and make more contributions to the construction of the Greater Bay Area and Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on a higher level.
