On the morning of September 13, 2023, the signing ceremony for the collaborative project between Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law and Augsburg University Faculty of Law in Germany was held in the grand hall N101 of Macau University of Science and Technology. Vice Minister Huang Wenjun from the Legal Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region, Vice Director Teng Sio Hong from the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, Vice President Pang Chuan from Macau University of Science and Technology, Vice President Wang Jian from Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Professor Thomas M.J. Möllers, Director of the International Affairs Office of Augsburg University Faculty of Law, Lei Wun Kong, member of the Basic Law Committee of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and advisory committee member of Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law, and Professor Fang Quan, Dean of Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law, attended the signing ceremony as the main guests.
The guests attending the signing ceremony also included Professor Beate Gsell, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany, Professor Michael Kort from Augsburg University Faculty of Law, Professor Martin Wassmer from the Faculty of Law of the University of Cologne in Germany, Professor Holm Putzke, distinguished professor from the Faculty of Law of Passau University and Wiesbaden University of Economics and Law in Germany, Professor Shen Liuhua, academic assistant of civil and commercial law at Augsburg University Faculty of Law and deputy director of the Sino-European Legal Research and Innovation Center, Dr. Robert Korves, academic assistant from the Faculty of Law of Bremen University in Germany, Dr. Matthias Wachter, Dr. Maximilian Merwald, Dr. Lisa Wolf, and Dr. Tobias Manhardt from Augsburg University Faculty of Law. Local scholars Associate Professor Li Hongjiang from City University of Macau, Professor Cao Xia, Assistant Professor Bi Jingwei, Assistant Professor Xiao Huina, Assistant Professor Wang Rongguo, Assistant Professor Guo Yiting, and nearly 300 faculty of law students participated in the event.
During the signing ceremony, Professor Fang Quan, Dean of Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law, and Professor Thomas M.J. Möllers, Director of the International Affairs Office of Augsburg University Faculty of Law, signed the framework agreement for cooperation and exchange between the two faculties and the agreement for student exchange on behalf of their respective institutions. Vice Minister Huang Wenjun from the Legal Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region, Vice Director Teng Sio Hong from the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, Vice President Pang Chuan from Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Michael Kort from Augsburg University Faculty of Law, and Professor Shen Liuhua jointly witnessed the signing ceremony.
In the historical context of multiculturalism and the trend of interdisciplinary development, the Faculty of Law has gradually formed teaching and research characteristics based on multiculturalism and interdisciplinary law, establishing its mission and goals to be rooted in Macau, Taiwan, mainland China, and facing the international community, cultivating legal talents, and promoting the progress of the rule of law. It is hoped that Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law and Augsburg University Faculty of Law in Germany will join hands to open a new chapter of friendly cooperation and exchange in Sino-German legal education.
