The Faculty of Law held a "Undergraduate Learning Experience Sharing Session"

On the evening of October 25, 2023, in Room N212 of Building N. The event aimed to provide learning experiences and advice for undergraduate students. Professor Cao Xia was invited to attend the event, along with second-year student Li Xiangyu, third-year student Pan Ziying, and fourth-year student Chai Ziyan, who shared their learning experiences as senior students.

At the beginning of the sharing session, Professor Cao Xia introduced the "Three Dos" principles for undergraduate legal studies. Firstly, she emphasized the importance of reading extensively. This includes not only reading national policies and revisions and interpretations of laws and regulations but also utilizing school resources and expanding reading materials through various channels. Secondly, she highlighted the need for critical thinking. This entails approaching legal issues from different perspectives, such as theoretical, practical, and comparative law problems, using a problem-oriented thinking approach. Thirdly, she stressed the significance of practical experience. Students should identify their areas of interest and explore how their interests relate to real-life situations, which can help in choosing research topics and directions for their theses.

Li Xiangyu focused on three aspects: learning and life, general education courses, and legal studies. He emphasized the cultivation of effective learning methods and the importance of listening, encouraging students to break away from relying solely on search engines for learning. He highlighted the need to set learning goals, develop communication and interpersonal skills, balance study and rest, and cultivate a spirit of helping others. These efforts can enhance students' ability to apply legal knowledge in their daily lives.

Pan Ziying shared her experiences in four areas: pre-class preparation, post-class consolidation, exam preparation, and general education courses. She emphasized the importance of reviewing the course syllabus, using a systematic approach to reading textbooks, and looking up legal terms. For consolidation and exam preparation, she recommended using techniques such as mind mapping and case analysis. Pan also advised students to find a balance between study and leisure, and to explore the unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures in Macau during their free time.

Chai Ziyan highlighted the importance of strengthening the learning of professional courses during undergraduate studies. She encouraged active participation in competitions and social activities, as well as seeking different internship opportunities to explore one's own path. Chai motivated students to face challenges positively and take action, emphasizing that "sustained and steady perseverance brings happiness and personal growth."
