The Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) has once again achieved remarkable success at the 11th Asia-Pacific M&A Moot Competition, held from October 29 to November 1, 2023. The team from M.U.S.T. was awarded the "Best Merger and Acquisition Proposal" accolade. Co-organized by Xiamen University School of Law and China Mergers and Acquisitions Association, the competition featured a total of 16 representative teams from renowned universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, China University of Political Science and Law, National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, National Taipei University, Soochow University, University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, Xiamen University, and a joint team from three Taiwanese universities (National Chengchi University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and National Chung Cheng University).

The representative team of the Faculty of Law at M.U.S.T. consists of six students, including Liao Huiruolan (3rd year Bachelor of Laws program), Wang Wei (1st year Master of Financial Crime and Regulation program), Ji Zhaowei (1st year Master of International Economic and Commercial Law program), Liu Jiayi (1st year Master of Laws program), Wu Yunyi (2nd year Master of Laws program), and Zhang Shiyu (4th year Bachelor of Business Administration program). Xie Gengliang, the Program Director of the Faculty of Law, and Assistant Professor Peng Yunpeng served as the team's advisors. Among them, Wang Wei received the "Best Performance Award" in the competition, while Liao Huiruolan was awarded the "Best Team Member Award."
The Asia-Pacific M&A Moot Competition is an annual event that holds significant influence in the academic, business, and university sectors throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It aims to establish a platform for exchange among students and faculty from universities in the Greater China region, Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas. The competition comprehensively assesses participants' interdisciplinary knowledge in areas such as law, finance, and taxation, while cultivating their abilities in independent research, case writing, negotiation, and communication.
Since its first participation in the competition in 2017, the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) has achieved remarkable success. The team has won the "Best Memorial Award" four times, as well as two "Best Merger Proposal Awards" and one "Best Industry Analysis Award." Through their participation in this year's competition, the team members from the Faculty of Law have enhanced their practical skills and collaborative spirit, showcasing the comprehensive abilities and outstanding qualities of M.U.S.T. students.
In the future, the Faculty of Law will continue to actively participate in academic competitions, promoting the cultivation of comprehensive talent.
