This 3-day forum event was chaired by the Macau University of Science and Technology: Faculty of Health Sciences, medical symposium and held on 24th September, 2011 and 2-day workshops were held on 29th– 30thOctober independently.
This was a very well received event. We were so blessed to have a outstanding list of invited keynote speakers, experts and trainers from Italy, France and Hong Kong to attend this meaningful forum. Our local officials from the Health Bureau of Macau SAR presided over the entire forum. Overseas guest included Dr Enrico Storti (Italy), The Broad Director of World Interactive Network Focused on Critical Ultrasound (WINFOCUS), Prof. Daniel Lichtenstein (France), the Chairperson of Scientific Committee of WINFOCUS and Dr Tang Ho Ming (Hong Kong), the past Chairperson of Ultrasound Committee of the HK College of Emergency Medicine. These three keynote speakers brought their latest research findings to this forum.
This provided us a great opportunity to gather with high level experts around the globe and to share both the knowledge and the latest advancements of Ultrasound technology in critical care. Separate workshops, keynote presentations and skills training programs were held separately at two different venues; the Centre of Excellence for Medical Professional Development at MUST; and the Vista Function Room of MGM Macau.
This important medical forum was primarily focused on the introduction of WINFOCUS, a worldwide network specialized in critical ultrasound medical techniques to our frontline medical professionals here in Macau. An exciting topic named FALLS (Fluid Administration Limited by Lung Sonography) Protocol was presented as one of the symposium programs. Also, an update was given on the latest development of Emergency Ultrasound in Hong Kong.
Our Dean of Faculty, Dr. Manson Fok and a strong team of Macau experts in the field, including Dr Rui Furtado, Dr Ma Kok Leung (Chairperson of Ultrasound Committee of HKCEM), and others presided over the entire forum in order to discuss and give an overview of the latest development of Emergency Medicine here in Macau, SAR and how to move toward an international standard in the future.
