The 20th Sino-Luso International Medical Forum in Macau takes place on August 23rd, 24th and 25th. The topic for this event is "Robotic Surgical Skills Training and Revolution in Breast Surgery”."

Prof. Manson Fok, president of the forum, comments, “Tele-robotic surgical systems have been around for more than 10 years, they have already gone pass the R & D stage. It is time for us to train our local surgeons to gain their skills and knowledge in this advanced technology.”
Prof. Fok continues, “We see many of their newer generations of surgical robotic arms being deployed in minimally invasive procedures in Hong Kong and mainland China and as they become less expensive. We feel that it is likely to be deployed widely in surgical procedures in the near future.”

The special Sino-Luso event is organized by the Macau Healthcare Management and Promotion Association (MHMPA), the 20th forum, is proud to present robotic simulation the Israeli expert, Mr. Ori Dotan. He remarks, “I am excited to be able to present at the Sino-Luso International Medical Forum again. This particular forum that we are having is to showcase the advanced robotic simulation system that we developed in Israel. A scientific way for training novices and how their skill sets can be assessed appropriately.”

Academic programs of this forum are chaired by Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). The Vice President of the Hong Kong College of Surgeons, Professor Edward Lai comments, “We are excited that for the first time Macau surgeons can learn how to deploy surgical robotic arms to practice operations from basic skills to suturing technique on three dimensional virtual-reality visual simulations.” Professor Lai adds, “We are also aware many surgical colleges in the US are now developing core curriculum includes robotic surgery in one of their divisions. Fellows are exposed to learning robotic surgical techniques such as radical prostatectomy, nephrectomy and cystectomy.”

This high quality forum also covers a wide range of new surgical method in breast, specialty and experts will be presenting latest data on diagnosis, tumour appearances, case studies, advanced treatment, adjuvant therapy and survival.
