On November 10-11, 2021, the 8th Pearl River Young and Middle-aged Academic Seminar, hosted by the Pearl River Water Conservancy Committee, co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Water Resources and the Guangdong Water Conservancy Academic Association, was successfully held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The conference aims to promote the development of water conservancy science and technology in the Pearl River Basin, and further strengthen the exchange and cooperation of scientific and technological research and technological achievements between the provinces and cities in the Pearl River Basin, as well as Hong Kong and Macao. The conference consisted of two sub-venues in Chinese and English, where the award-winning papers were exchanged and discussed. Representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources, members of the organizing committee and review committee of the 8th Pearl River Young and Middle-aged Academic Symposium, and the first author of the award-winning paper were all invited to attend. The meeting also invited Hu Chunhong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to give a keynote speech.
Sun Chengqian, a graduate student of the Macao Environmental Research Institute, attended the meeting. Sun Chengqian gave a report titled "Effects of regional transport of pollutions in Pearl River Basin in Macau Bay area" in the English sub-venue, and was awarded the best English speaker. The second prize of the thesis.
