“2019 Global Money Week” by M.U.S.T. and Macau Institute of Financial Service (IFS)

Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) and Macau Institute of Financial Service (IFS) jointly organized a week-long “2019 Global Money Week”. The opening ceremony was held at O702 on the morning of 25th March, 2019. This 8th Global Money Week (GMW) entitled “Learning, Endowment, Harvesting”, encourages children and young people to know and learn about money issues, livelihoods and entrepreneurship.

The guests attending the opening ceremony included: Mr Wilson Vong, Executive Director of AMCM; Ms Chan Pou Wan, Vice-President of the Administrative Committee of Social Security Fund (FSS); Mr Chang Kun Hong, Secretário-Geral da Comissão de Desenvolvimento de Talentos; Ms Carrie Leung, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers; Mr Ip Sio Kai, President of the Macau Association of Banks (ABM); Prof. Pang Chuan, Vice-President of M.U.S.T.; Mr António Félix Pontes, Chairman of Executive Board of Macau Institute of Financial Services (IFS); Professor Sheng Ni, Vice-Dean of School of Business of M.U.S.T. , and the representatives from Financial Intelligence Office of Macao (FIO), Criminal Investigation, Anti-Money Laundering Division of Macao Judiciary Police, Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia Limited (IFTA), Macau Insurers Association (MIA), along with the business community, the education sector, the relevant industrial associations, the public and 200 teachers and students from M.U.S.T.

Guests host “2019 Global Money Week”

The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Vice-President Pang Chuan, he expressed his gratitude to the Macau Institute of Financial Service (IFS) for co-hosting the “2019 Global Money Week” with the University. He stressed that M.U.S.T. has actively committed to the development of Macao education and gained remarkable achievements in teaching, research and social services over the past 19 years. The University is the first institution in Macao that received the quality certification of the British Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency and established two national key laboratories. The University has also witnessed students winning the International Final of the World Management Challenge twice. M.U.S.T. is very honored to participate in the Global Money Week and work with the different sectors of the community to promote financial education for young people in Macao.

Mr António Félix Pontes, the Chairman of Executive Board of Macau Institute of Financial Services (IFS) followed to deliver an opening speech. He introduced the background of the Global Money Week, and pointed out that all sectors of the community including the relevant government departments, financial institutions and educational institutions, are suggested to cooperate together to teach young people about the skills of money savings, financial decisions and job seeking.

Three distinguished guests were then invited to conduct three astonishing financial seminars. Mr Wilson Kwok, the founder of the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia Limited (H.K.), presented about the rise of financial technology professionals and international trends. Mr Antony Ma shared the cyber security strategy; and Ms Violet Lei Un Teng, the senior technician of the Macao Social Security Fund, introduced the non-mandatory central provident fund system. In the interactive session, the on-site response was very enthusiastic, and the audience applauded with warm applause.

The “2019 Global Money Week” is held from 25th to 31st March, 2019. The organized activities include visits to government departments, including the Macao Monetary Authority, the Macao Directorate of Judiciary Police, the Macao Financial Intelligence Office, and to the work shadowing at the booths setting up by the major Macao banking and insurance companies.
