FHTM Launched the 2019 Summer Program with Kyung Hee University, Seoul Korea

On July 5th, 2019, twenty enthusiastic students from the College of Hotel and Tourism Management (CHTM), Kyung Hee University (KHU), South Korea, were warmly welcomed to the two-weeks long Summer exchange program offered by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.).

Kyung Hee University encourages students to participate in exchange overseas programs and cultivates industry leaders equipped with social responsibilities, creativity and moral integrity. The selected cohort of students admitted to the Summer Exchange Program is supported by KHU for their excellent achievements during their academic journey and English proficiency.

The exchange program is one of the fruitful outcomes that the FHTM initiated last year. Vice President Professor Pang Chuan, Vice Dean of FHTM Ms. Amy Chu, Head of Human Resources Office Ms. Flora Kok, and FHTM Assistant Professor Dr. Jaeseok Lee, visited three universities in Korea in 2018 and signed the MOUs regarding the exchange of students and scholars, and research collaboration.

Upon their arrival a campus and faculty orientation was presented by Program Director Ms. Brenda Yang. Mr. Cheonhoo Park from KHU expressed a heartfelt gratitude to FHTM for the sincere welcome on behalf of the Dean of College of Hotel & Tourism Management of KHU.

Dr. Jaeseok Lee expressed that “During the summer program, the students will experience the diverse attractiveness of Macao tourism industry in and out of classrooms. We expect them to become a representative body of Macao tourism when they go back to Korea.”

The students have benefited greatly in this summer program. NGA, SINEAD TIAN NING who is majoring in Food Service Management stated that she learned a lot in the Macao Hospitality Management classes and the Menu Designs class. Also, she was interested in Macao culture and would like to return. The Hotel Management student KIM, JU BI thought that it was convenient to live in Macao and recommended her classmates to visit. The Tourism Management student JUNG, JI WOON said that he had a wonderful experience and would like to share it with his friends in Korea.

The M.U.S.T.-FHTM Summer Program provides a fantastic opportunity for students to travel, to experience and investigate the culture and history of Macao and earn some basic knowledge on the area of tourism and hospitality in a shorter period of time than a full semester. Hospitality and tourism are among some of the fastest growing industries in the world, and studying related courses in this program allows students to gain a basic perception about this specific industry.
