Zhu Yi Zhun, Chair Professor of Macau University of Science and Technology, Has Been Honorably Recommended as Secretary-General of the Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AASP)

Chair professor Zhu Yi Zhun, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Macau University of Science and Technology, is the recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars program of the Ministry of Education. Prof. Zhu has long been engaged in research on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, inflammation and immune protection mechanisms, and new drug development. He has presided over 16 project projects, including the NFSC Program, the National Major New Drug Creation, and Macau Major Research Programs, with total funding of more than 180 million. The class I new drug SCM-198, which he led, was transferred to the company for 150 million RMB and has entered the clinical phase II study. Recently, under the invitation of the chairman of the Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AASP), Chair Professor Zhu Yi Zhun was recommended as the Secretary-General of AASP (2022-2023) to promote more pharmacy educators’ communications in the Asia & Pacific (APAC) region. The AASP will also improve the sharing of resources and provide teachers and students with more opportunities in teaching, scientific research, and services; promote the advancement of pharmacy in the APAC region, cooperate with international families of pharmacy, and contribute to the health of humankind.

The Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AASP) was established in April 2001, and its members are from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran, China, New Zealand, and Australia. The AASP is a non-profit private, professional organization dedicated to promote pharmaceutical education and the development of pharmaceutical research. With the nomination of Chair professor Zhu Yi Zhun from Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) by the Chairman of AASP to be the Secretary-General, the cooperation and contact between M.U.S.T and AASP will strengthen. The two will jointly promote the development and progress of the Asian pharmaceutical industry, also marking a significant step for M.U.S.T.’s Pharmacy move of internationalization.
