MSB Students won the second runner-up in the HKI CPA2022 Business Case Competition

The HKICPA Business Case Competition (BCC) was launched in September 2022. The event received a warm response and fierce competition. More than 420 teams from different universities applied to participate.

This year's case focused on the Pharmaceutical Industry. Students were required to submit a business plan from the perspective of an accounting firm. Based on the problems the company is facing, they had to use their financial knowledge and business analysis skills to make strategic suggestions for their clients to help the company continue growing. After two rounds of anonymous reviewing and evaluating, our competition team (No.884) consisting of Yuming Zhong, Zhuo Xu, Jiarui Han, and JunYou Deng (Instructor: Assistant Professor Zhang Ruoiao, MSB) from the School of Business, successfully made it into the Top 8 at the first round. The final round was held on December 3, 2022. After fierce competition, the team won third place. This is the best result of a Macao university in this competition. (Figs. 1 and 2)

For 20 years, the HKICPA Business Case Competition has welcomed tertiary students with diverse educational backgrounds from Mainland of China, Hong Kong, and Macao to compete for attractive cash prizes and internship opportunities. The competition connects students in testing their academic competencies and business know-how to solve real-life challenges, exercising their current skillsets, and simultaneously cultivating their professional judgment and enhancing their global perspectives. In 2022, the competition received tremendous support with around 2,000 students and more than 300 business proposals from approximately 65 institutions. We have built a platform for students to gain new inspiration and expand their toolboxes. Students who participated were all provided with valuable life experiences. This year, the case focused on the Pharmaceutical Industry. The finalist teams gathered and competed for prizes on 3 December, in Guangzhou.
