The Two Sides Wish to Enhance Research Collaborations between Hong Kong and Macau

Ms Janet Wong, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology of Hong Kong, Dr Cecilia Pang, Biotechnology Director, Prof. Lao Li Xing, Director of School of Chinese Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, Ms. Alicia Wong, Senior Manager (Policy and Development) and Dr. Theobald Chan, Senior Biotechnology Officer visited MUST on June 27th. They were warmly received by Chair Prof Liu Liang, President of MUST and other university principals.
When exchanging ideas, the president introduced to the delegation the status and directions of MUST in terms of innovation and technology development in such areas as deep space exploration, systems engineering research, and translational medicine studies; both sides expressed wishes to enhance research collaborations between Hong Kong and Macau so as to jointly contribute to China’s science and technology development.
The guests then paid a visit to the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines. After hearing the president’s and other medical and pharmaceutical professionals’ introductions, the guests spoke highly of the laboratory’s facilities and research areas and acknowledged the significance of the key laboratory’s engagements in, for example, measurement of air quality and food safety, which is closely related to the public’s everyday life.
Other university principals who have attended the discussions and the visit include Prof. Jiang Zhi Hong, Associate Vice President, Assistant Prof. Zhou Hua, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine, the two Assistant Deans of Macau Institute for Applied Research in Medicine and Health: Assistant Prof. Leung Lai Han, and Assistant Prof. Wang Jing Rong, and Head of Research and Technology Administration Office, Assistant Prof. Hon Chi Tin.
